Beat Block Galaxy - Super Mario Galaxy 2
Bentroen
This song has been adapted for the [Welded Woodlands] at Smithed #summit26! --- Beat Block Galaxy is a level from Super Mario Galaxy 2, a Nintendo Wii game from 2010, where timed blocks appear and disappear in sync with the music, prompting the player to listen carefully and follow the rhythm while jumping through the level! Although it is a very short level, the concept of synchronizing audio and gameplay captivated me back when I played it in 2012. (I later realized that Nintendo does this all the time in most of their games!) As someone very interested in audio programming, I kept wondering how this technique had been achieved, without a clue that I'd be programming systems exactly like that one some 14 years later 😅 This level also featured a beeping sound that could be heard through the Wii Remote, making it even more immersive. This track also features this beep! (which sadly is gone from the Switch/Switch 2 versions as no one at Nintendo had the brilliant idea to add speakers to the Joy-Con 😤). --- I originally completed this track for a recreation of this level in Minecraft (WIP): https://github.com/Bentroen/BeatBlockGalaxy Hear the original song (with the beat in the foreground): https://youtu.be/iXTNHOQ6w7A OST version: https://youtu.be/jfF9Gly4Nx0 More about this level: https://www.mariowiki.com/Beat_Block_Galaxy
